The Own Art Loan Scheme

What is the Own Art Scheme?

The Own Art Scheme is an interest-free loan scheme set up by the Arts Council that is designed to make it affordable for everyone to buy original, high quality contemporary art and craft by letting you spread the cost of your purchase over 10 months.

What can I buy?

You can choose any work with a retail price between £100 and £2,500 from our great selection of printspaintingsceramicssculptureglass and wood. It is not possible to buy gift vouchers with the Own Art Scheme.

How much can I borrow?

You can borrow from as little as £100 up to a maximum of £2,500. We then spread the cost of your purchase over 10 months with an interest free loan. For instance, if you buy a painting from us that costs £300 through the own art scheme, you would pay £30 in 10 monthly installments.

How do I apply?

Once you've found the piece(s) that you want to buy, just let us know that you would like to apply for an Own Art loan to finance your purchase. You can fill the application online in your own time or in the gallery with one of our staff members, who will take you through the loan application process. It usually takes about 15 minutes. Once you've given all the information they need, you will get an instant decision. Don't forget that you will need to have proof of ID with you in the form of a driver's licence or utility bill, along with a credit or debit card as proof of signature. Once you have paid your deposit and your loan application has been approved, you will need to sign the paperwork and then you can take the work home with you.
